CanalOlympia: access to culture and to energy self-sufficient entertainment
Backed by the Vivendi Group, the CanalOlympia project comprises 50 fully self-powered cinemas and live performance venues, currently being rolled out in Africa.
Each venue can accommodate 300 people inside, and several thousand people outside.
The venues are powered by a hybrid system developed by Bluestorage, comprising 140 kWp of solar panels and 400 kWh of storage.
This system enables:
- The guaranteed supply of high-quality electricity, without depending on fragile grids or generators,
- Clean production that reduces CO2 emissions up to 150 tonnes of CO2 per venue and per year.
About ten venues are currently operational in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Guinea, Niger, Senegal and Togo, for a total of more than 3.5 MWh in batteries.
